Buckeye Balls
A pop in your mouth chocolate covered peanut butter treat that is easy to make.
Buckeye Balls Peanut Butter Candy
- 1 ½ cups creamy peanut butter
- ½ cup butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 16 ounce package confections sugar
- 1 6 ounce semi-sweet chocolate
- 2 tablespoon solid vegetable shortening
Preheat oven to 350 degree
- Line a cookie sheet pan with wax paper
- Combine peanut butter, butter, vanilla and confections sugar
- Mix ingredients together
- Hand form into a smooth dough (Mixture will be stiff)
- Shape dough into balls
- Place balls onto wax paper
- Refrigerate for approximately 3 hours
- Melt chocolate and shortening in top broiler of double-broiler pot over simmering heat
- Pour melted chocolate into small bowel
- Insert toothpick into peanut butter balls
- Dip balls into melted chocolate coating approximately ¾ of the ball
- Return the balls to wax paper, chocolate side down
- Refrigerate for an additional 30 minutes to 1hour until firm
- Store in container with wax paper
Makes 5 dozen.
